DSHA President Announcement, 6/20/17
Ray O'Connor
Chair, DSHA Board of Directors

"I am honored to be joining the leadership team of Divine Savior Holy Angels High School. Upon graduating from DSHA twenty-five years ago, I began my adult life with an intentional focus on giving back and making a difference. Divine Savior Holy Angels has an extraordinary history of providing young women of Milwaukee the opportunity to achieve academic excellence, grow in their faith, and acquire confidence as they learn to take risks and try new things. As a proud alumna, I am so pleased to see that as DSHA has developed in enrollment, program offerings, and physical space, we have continued to deliver on our vision of educating the whole person in faith, heart, and intellect.

Throughout the interview process, one thing was very clear to me: the strength and success of our school comes from the entire school community – from students, parents, and alumnae, to faculty, staff, and supporters throughout the Milwaukee area. Ellen Bartel has created a strong legacy during her 19+ years as President. I hope to pick up on the existing momentum she has fostered, and work to continue the development of the school for years to come.

My husband Dennis and I, along with our three children, are all looking forward to making the move from Chicago to the Milwaukee area and formally joining this wonderful community. We look forward to meeting you soon."
– President-Elect Katie Brown Konieczny, DSHA '92

On January 4, 2017, via letters from President Ellen Bartel and Board of Directors Chair Ray O’Connor, DSHA announced that President Ellen Bartel will be leaving her role in June of 2018. Ellen has honorably served the DSHA community for nearly two decades, and will hand over the school in excellent standing for transition.

“I have been fortunate to be the President of Divine Savior Holy Angels High School for 19 years. The opportunity entrusted to me by the Sisters of the Divine Savior has  given me the opportunity to fulfill every professional and personal aspiration I could ever imagine. I have worked with the finest faculty and staff a school could hope for and been guided and supported by a committed board and many wonderful volunteers. Blessed with the support and involvement of my husband, Michael, our family built a deep commitment to DSHA and we thrived in the embrace of this community. Together, we have had the chance to help a generation of young girls grow into the women God intended them to be. We have accomplished so much together. So it is with a happy heart, deep gratitude and a sense of satisfaction that I tell you that I will be leaving my role as President of DSHA in June of 2018… From this position of strength and justifiable pride, it is time for me to pass this wonderful role to someone else.” – President Ellen Bartel
