Department Philosophy & Goals
The Business Department at DSHA strives to enhance the “real-world readiness” of our students. Educators encourage students to think critically about the possible impact that could stem from each decision students make. It is our goal to encourage students to explore different career opportunities and provide them with the transferrable skills that are necessary to pursue these careers.
The Business Department curriculum is designed around the Wisconsin State and National Standards for Marketing, Accounting, and Personal Finance Education. Also embedded in the curriculum are the Qualities of a DSHA Graduate; which are demonstrated repeatedly throughout the semester through group work, oral presentations and social engagement. Within all courses in the business department, there are opportunities for different learners to demonstrate their knowledge and skills. Some assessment examples include: financial simulations, tests, individual and group oral presentations, research and creative projects.
